About my Journeys in Glass

I have been interested in glass and color as long as I can remember.  I started working with stained glass in 1978 making copper foil panels.  I have worked with leaded panels, boxes, 3-D houses, mosaics, fusing and more.  I have studied  mosaics with Roy Kapp, kaleidoscopes with Don Doak and apprenticed in multiple areas with Judi Wire.   I still make a few traditional items when something catches my eye.   I also teach classes through two continuing education departments.  If you’re interested in classes look here for some brief information or drop me a line anytime.

I began teaching stained glass and mosaics classes in 1998.  While training for that I met Val Oswalt.  She introduced me to PMC and glass bead making.  I headed back to North East Indiana, with a hot head starter kit and a new avenue to pursue with glass.   I remained largely self-taught and working on my hot head until taking a class in Louisville in 2003 from Jim Smircich.   ISLAGA has been instrumental in arranging classes and scheduling instructors to teach in Indiana.  That has provided me with the opportunity to learn from Christine Schneider, Jen Geldard and Tink.  Each of these ladies taught me countless lessons to translate into my beads.   Most recently I have tried my hand at blown ornaments. Thanks to a class with Todd Taylor and patient instruction from Sharon Owens, I’ve learned just enough to appreciate the effort that goes into producing a nice ornament.
